Ruled by the Overlord, the tyrant with absolute control over the entire world, the Netherworld is full of demons, monsters, the undead, exploding stuffed penguins, zombies wearing horse wieners as fashion accessories, the world's most corrupt congress, living statues, talking spears, hospitals that reward you for being critically injured, and more. King Laharl, the Overlord of the Netherworld, is a monstrously powerful demon. After a nap of two years, he awakened to discover that his father- the previous Overlord, King Krichevskoy- had died during his sleep, leaving the throne vacant. Laharl quickly rose to the challenge, overcoming everything in his way on his quest to the throne. With his closest vassal, Etna, as well as his friend, a former angelic assassin named Flonne, he rules over the Netherworld with an iron fist.
